sr-092380-11eSanta Monica, California, September 15, 1480 `~ T0: Mayor and City Council SEP 2 3 158'0 FROM: City Staff SUBJECT: Approval of Preliminary Plans for the New Fire Station No. 5 Introduction The preliminary plans for a new Fire Station No. 5, at 25th Street and Ashland Avenue, have been completed. This report recommends that the City Council approve these plans and authorize the Architect to proceed with the final plans and specifications. The preliminary plans are on file in the City Council office for review. Background Included in the 1980-81 budget is an amount of $860,000 for construction of a new fire station to replace Station No. 5 located at 2801 25th Street. The City has entered into an agreement (Contract No. 3436} with the firm of Donald L. Prochnow for $20,000 to design the new Fire Station. The City Council and the Architectural Review Board have already approved the Schematic Plans for this new Fire Station that is to be located oh the southwest corner of 25th Street and Ashland Avenue on (Airport property). The Architect was authorized to prepare the preliminary plans. These plans have been completed and now must be approved by the City Council prior to the Architect preparing the final working drawings and specifications.
