At the adjourned meeting of the Library Board held on May 31, 1968,
the Board submitted to the Council a recommendation that the Santa Monica
Public Library apply for membership in the Metropolitan Cooperative
Library System, Since action on this matter should be taken by September,
1968, the Board hereby respectfully requests time to discuss this proposal
with the Council, at the convenience of the Council.
We would also like to discuss future plans for the Ocean Park Branch
Library when it suits your convenience.
We are confident that you share our concern for the future develop-
ment of library service to the people of Santa Monica, and we are hopeful
that these discussions will produce a feasible plan for the Santa Monica
Library system,
