The City Council has recently adopted an ordinance transferring a pnrtian o~y-
sales tax revenues to the General Fund, thereby reducing the Capita~_Ixripwrove-`-
ment Fund. The reduction of the latter necessitates the financing o~ he'1G1ain `
Library construction and furnishing, at a coat of approximately $1, 585, 000,
by a bond issue.
It has been determined that the following schedule can be used:
September ii, 1962
November b, 1962
September 15, 1963
February 15, 1964
March 1, 19b4
April 15, 19b4
May 1, 1964
June 1, 1964
September 1, 1965
Award of Design Contract by
Council.
Bond Election in conjunction
with.State Elections.
Architect present preliminary
plans to City Council for
approval.
Architect complete working
drawings and specifications.
Advertise for bids.
Open bsds.
Award Contract.
Starting date o£ construction.
Completion date.
In order to place this matter on the November b, 1962 ballot, the Council by
motion must authorize the City Attorney to prepare the necessary papers for
submission to the Board of Supervisors. The Council must apgrove said
papers no later than August 28, 19b2 (the next regular meeting). The Board of
Supervisors must formally act on Council's recommendation prior to September
?, 1962,sn order to meet the requirements of law for the November 6, 19b2
ballot.
It is recommended that the Council adopt the necessary motion authorizing the
City Attorney to act.
