Requested Authorization to Obtain Appraisals on Surplus Property
Construction of the new Transportation Facility has rendered surplus
the Transportation Department paint shop site at the southeasterly
corner of Lincoln Boulevard and Colorado.
The City also owns apiece of property on the southerly side of
Ozone Street between Seventh Street and Longfellow. It was acquired
years ago as part of the assets of a private water company which
was purchased by the City of Santa Monica. It is presently desig-
nated as "Ozone Park, " although it is not a park and is virtually
unimproved except for a motley assortment of discouraged looking
shrubs and plants which must be watered by hand if watered at ail.
Authority is requested to obtain appraisals of these pieces of property
and to offer them foa public sale.
On Colorado, north of and adjoining the Transportation Department
paint shop site is the location of the Humane Division, bVe would
recommend that the appraisal of the paint shop site be made on such
a basis as to show both the value of the paint shop site separately
and the value of the two sites if sold together. We are currently
working on the possibilsty of moving the Humane Division to another
location. If it works out, we will recommend sale of both parcels.
