SUBJECT: Community Services lOK Race
Introduction
This report concerns the request by the Santa Monica Community Service Agencies
for a minor change', in the approved lOK race route (Route B), and recommends
City Council approval of the revised route.
Background
The staff has received a request from the Santa Monica Community Service
Agencies to change the approved Route B (northern loop) for their upcoming
6th Annual lOK Race to be held on Sunday, November 6, 1983, at 9:00 a.m.
The City Council recently approved Resolution #6688 establishing two official
City routes for the running of 10 Kilometer foot races. Further Council
direction included that staff would work with those interested in having
races, including the development of other routes. The northern loop, Route
B, with minor adjustments, has been used by the Community Service Agencies
for the last five years. The requested change in route is not substantial
and has been reviewed by the City staff and is recommended for acceptance. Attached is
a map indicating changes in the. approved route and showing the proposed route.
Budget/Financial Impact
The race will be run on a cost covering basis with all expenses incurred
(Police, signing, etc.) to be paid by the applicant.
Recommendation
Staff recommends that the City Council approve the alternate race route
for the Santa Monica Community Services lOK race to be held November 6, 1983.
