At a meeting of the City Planning Commission February 2ttth
members of the cornmissicn voted unanimously to recommend
to your honorable body that the subdivision ordinance be
amended as follows:
"SECTION g307F. Curbs, Gutters and Sidewalks.
Curbs and gutters shall be required in a?1 instai.ces,
and sidewalks shad be required in every case except
in the instance of a deadend street on *ahich there are
not more than six lots, or where, in the ooinion of the
City Engineer; the topograLLony of the land makes sidec>>alks
impracticable,
"SECTI'ON 9307F1. Utilities, lri addition tc the aforesaid
minimum improvements, the. Planning Commission shall have
authority to recommend, and the City Council to require,
when it appears that local needs would be served thereby,
that all telephone, telegraph, electric light, and other
wires for the transmission or distribution of energy,
sounds, signals or images in, along or across anvr public
street, highway, trray, alley, walk or other public place,
be installed underground; or in lieu thereof to regulate
or prohibit the placement of :Doles in or the suspension of
wires over, across or along said streets, alleys, hig'r~,^aays,
ways, or other public placesr>. "
It was the eoncensus of the commission that generally
they are to be desired but should not be required ~~rhere
topography makes installation impracticable or where there
are so few lots on a deadend street that little Uedestrian
traffic would be generated.
