Some time ago, the Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce
requested that bicycle racks be placed at strategic
locations on the Santa Monica Mall.
Since bicycle riding is prohibited on the Mall it was
hoped that these racks would entice riders to park
their. vehicles prior to entering the Mall.
At this time, we are purchasing racks for the City Hall
building and believe that it would be in the-best
interests of the City to order all racks at the same
time from the same supplier.
Following is the amount required for the bicycle racks:
for the Mall.
(8) 7 ft. Racks (including tax, set up and delivery)
$102.00 each - Total $816.00.
It is therefore recommended that the .City Council be
requested to appropriate additional funds in the amount of
$816.00 to purchase these- racks.
