Sn connection with the Urban Renewal Program for
urhich the City of Santa Monica received the green light at a meeting
sponsored by the Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce held at the Mir
amar Hotel A,londay noon, October 8, 195~i, Swish to recommend to yaur
Honorable Dody at tl2is time that:
1, The Manager be instructed to recommend to the
City Council at its next meeting certain areas of the City which tivo*~ld
qualify for selection as an urban renewal demonstration area,
2, Tice City Attorney prepare a cont-r act for the
services of the American Renewal Foundation in connection with tl-ae
Urban $enewal Program, The Council has previously aut'norized as
a condition of the Worl~able Program the appointment of a Housing Co~
ordinator. The American Rer_ewal Foundation is equip,aed to furnish
these services to the City at cost, Sn my judgment, the City would not
only save time in getting the ITr'oan Renewal Progra-rn under way by the
use of th a services of the American Renewal Foundation, but money as
well, S would suggest that this contract "oe prepared fora 12 montiasT
