Planning Corrinissioh COi1Si dered the que stion of u
Hotchkiss Pask or the Charnocl~vells property for the rehousing
of persons who rray be displaced by the process of Urban Redevelop-
r+ent .
After the nerr_bers of the corrmissien ha d inspected the area in
question, and after considerable discu ssion, i~;r. John °J. Bohn
offered the following motion:
•° resolved that it is the opinion of the plannir_g comi?iission
that the Hotchkiss Park site is a.n extremely well located
piece of land that easily lends itself to an intensive
developixient a.nd its value; if disposed of far intensive
develop.?~ent, will probabl,r make a.-vaile.blc to the City a_
substantially larger piece of land in sor:~e other area.,
therefore, the cer:sr~ission does riot recoriniend its use for
rehousing of persons in the lower income bracket who r;,ay be
displaced by the process of Urban Redevelopment, rc which
v~,as seconded by Dr. James 0. Lindsey a:nd carried unanimously.

lecaticn, the ccrrr~iission directed me to info'rtr_ your honorable
body that t'_~ie following suggestions were rade by various personsa
1. That the Gharnock dwells prcperty is considered to be
poorly situated for the purpose due to distance froir transpor-
tation i°acilities and shopping centers.
2. That consideration might be given to the possibility
of selling Hotchkiss Fark outright for a substantial incor:e
development wild using the proceeds for the purchase of land.
adjacent to Joslyn Park, whic'_n land could be used for a loJ~~
cost housing pro;;ect and after sucl_~ housing is no longer needed,
cleared and added to the park, or
That the proceeds could be used for the purchase
of 1a.nd past of i~"win Street and est of Third Street fcr low

in the confines of Project _r ea lb and this project area clearer.
