of displaced persons.
rat a regular meeting of the Recreation Commission held on
February 25, 1960, the corrLmission considered t'ne request of your
honorable body for using Y;otchkiss Park and two city owned lots,
adjoining Joslyn Park, ,for the purpose of relocating persons dis-
placed by the Ocean Park Redevelopment Project 1-A.
A€ter considerable discussion, in which the commission
concurred there was a shortage of park land in Santa Monica, the
chairman moved:
"that tine Recreation Commission does not recommend
the use of iiotchkiss Park and two city owned lots
adjoining Joslyn Park for the purpose of relocating '-
the persons displaced by the process o€ Urban
Redevelopment."
The motion was seconded by PSrs. k:aschyand carried by the
following vote.

Sn further discussion the commission explored other feasible
solutions to the problem of relocating displaced persons and Sfir.

"that the Recreation Commission recommend to the City
Council that the area easterly of Joslyn Park not be ,'~..,._
considered €or relocation housing as the commission's
future plan is to acquire this area for a play €ield
and t'nat the two lots adjoining and westerly o€ Joslyn
Par7c not be sold to acquire funds €or any purpose other
than tine acquisition of other recreational land. The

commission further recommends t'nat these two lots be
used as a temporary part and parcel of a larger re-
location project in that immediate strip of land
whic'n the nommission hopes would eventually be used
for recreation purposes."
The motion was seconded by NLrs. Boti»er and carried by the
following vote:
