SUBJECT: Redevelopment Hearing Date ,°~~ ~= ~• ,s>;:
~-~ ~+'~.
At the May 10, 1gGQ, meeting of the City Council, a time
should be set for holding the public hearing on the Re-
development Agency's plan for the redevelopment of Project
lA. The date should be any time commencing irrith the *,.veek
of June 6, Igo'O, and should be in the Council Chambers.
Because of the *,vording of Section 613 of the Charter, I
believe that the holding of the r,~eetir.g any place else
than the Council Chambers could very easily be attacked.
The wording of that section is as follows;
"SECTION 613. Place of Meetings. All meetings
shall 'ae held in the Council Chambers of the City
HaII and shall be open to the public. If, b~~ reason
of fire, flood or other emergene~r, it shall be unsafe
to meet in the place designated, the meetings mavr be
held for the duration of the ernergehcy at such place
as is designated by the Mayor or, if he should fail
to act, by faun members of the City Coune~.l.`'
Should the public hearing be held on any date but a regular
Council meeting day, the Council should adjourn the meeting
immediately preceding the hearing to the date of the hearing.
