Proposed Change in Auditorium Advance Ticket Sales Chaxges~to Promoters r'` ~ -"" i ! ~~ ~3g The Auditorium Manager has called to our attention that the present charges set forth in Section 8A of Resolution 2228 for handling advance ticket sales are unworkable for both the City and the promoter. You may recall that Section 8A provides for a charge of 10~ per ticket on tickets up to $2. 90, 15~` per ticket from $2. 91 to $4. 90, and 20~` per ticket on all tickets from $4. 91 up. The Auditorium Manager reports the following objections to the present.. system of chargesi 1. Charges are too indefinite for promoter to budget £or a given show. 2. Charges in some cases have been excessive. 3. Promoter complains of the time consumed in counting un- sold tickets on a small advance ticket sale and the necessity to count them when he is occupied with other functions of his show. 4. Difficult for Auditorium staff to carry out required account- ing procedures. Following is the proposed new schedule of charges for handling advance ticket sales: 1. $100 when the gross manifest calls for a scaling of $5000 and under. 2. $150 when gross scaling is from $5001 to $8000. 3. $200 when gross scaling exceeds $8000. For these charges, the Auditorium would give a maximum of one monthFs advance ticket sales. -2- Projecting these proposed new charges throughout the coming season indicates revenues would be approximately the same as under the present charges. We believe the new schedule is much mare workable and would be more satisfactory to both the promoters and the City. I therefore recommend the City Council approve the new charges and authorize the Gity Attorney to prepare the necessary revision to Resolutior. ~~~A GB /MMK/emc cc - K, O. Grubb, City Clerk John T.
