This report explains the requirements of the State Department of
Health for amending the City's Water Supply Permit, and makes re-
commendations for compliance therewith.
Background
The California Health and Safety Code (Division 5, Part l:Chapter 7,
Article 1, Section 4019) requires in part submission of an application
on prescribed forms for any change or addition to an existing. Water
Supply Permit. Since the City operates its water system under such
a permit, and since Council has authorized and budgeted funds for
additional wells to be drilled to maximize local water°-production, a
resolution to apply for an amended permit should be adopted.
Reconunendat ion
Adoption of a resolution to authorize the City Manager to petition
California Department of Health for an amended Water Supply Permit.

A PESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA TO PETITION
THE CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH
FOR AN AP~NDED tJATER SUPPLY PERMIT
6JHEREAS, the City of Santa Monica operates its water supply
system under a Water Supply Permit issued by the State of California
Department of Health; and,
WHEREAS, said Department of Health requires an application by
resolution of the governing body of the permittee to amend said
permit before alteration of the .water supply system; and,
WHEREAS, the Council has authorized and budgeted funding for
additional wells to be added to the system for maximizing local
water production..
PdOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUidCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That pursuant and subject to all of the terms,.
conditions and provisions of Division 5, Part 1, Chapter 7, Sections
4010 to 4035 of the California Health and Safety Code and all amend-
ments thereto, relating to domestic water supplies, application by
this City be made to the State Department of Health, for a permit to
drill two additional water wells and to equip two existing water wells
not heretofore utilized for water supply purposes.
SECTION 2. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized
.and directed to cause the necessary data to be prepared, and investig-
ation to be made, in the name of said City to sign and file such
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter, the same shall be
in full force and effect.
