A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF-SANTA MONICA SUPPORTING LOS ANGELES METRO
30110 MEASURE R PROJECT ACCELERATION jNIT1ATIVE
WHEREAS, the Mayor of Los Angeles and area cities are seeking federal
financial assistance to accelerate construction of key transit projects scheduled
to be built over the next thirty years with Measure R funding; and
WHEREAS, with federal assistance these projects can be built in ten
years, rather than thirty years; and
WHEREAS, accelerating the construction of these projects will improve
regional mobility, ease traffic congestion, reduce greenhouse gas emissions., and
generate hundreds of thousands of jobs that will improve. the regions{ economy;
and
WHEREAS, accelerating these projects will improve transit service and
quality of life for Santa Monica residents and workers; and
WHEREAS, acceleration of the projects covered by the 30/10 Iriitiative is
consistent with the goals and objectives of the City's Draft Land Use and
Circulation Element, in that they will improve transit connections between the Gity
and the region, ease traffic congestion and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
NOW; THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The City of Santa Manisa hereby supports the Los Angeles Metro
30110 Measure R Project Acceleration Initiative.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall cerkify to the adoption of this Resolution, and
thenceforth and thereafter the earns shall be in full foroe and effect.
