R-10473RESOLUTION NUMBER 10473 (City Council Series) A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA AMENDING THE GENERAL PLAN LAND USE MAP TO ESTABLISH THAT A PORTION OF THE CITY TRANSFER STATION IS LOCATED IN THE INDUSTRIAL CONSERVATION DISTRICT WHEREAS, an application for a General Plan Amendment was filed by City of Santa Monica ("City") pursuant to Santa Monica Municipal Code Section 9.04.20.18.080(c); and WHEREAS, the application requested that the General Plan Land Use .Map be amended to denote that the City's Transfer Station located at 2500 Michigan Avenue be-shown as Industrial Conservation District consistent with the existing industrial use and zoning of the subject properties; and WHEREAS, the property's current Land Use Map designation of Special Office District is not consistent with these existing industrial use and zoning since the objective of the Special Office District is to provide opportunities for office and advance technology uses; and WHEREAS, an amendment of the Land Use Map is necessary in order to provide consistency between the proposed project and the objectives and policies of the General Plan in the Industrial-Conservation District which includes preserving existing and accommodating future industrial uses; WHEREAS, on April 21, 2010, the Planning Commission reviewed and recommended, in part, the proposed amendment of the General Plan Land Use Map, as shown in Exhibit A, NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. The City Council finds that an amendment of the General Plan Land Use Map is appropriate for the reasons detailed in the findings above. SECTION 2. The City Couhcil has reviewed and considered the amendment and hereby adopts the amendment as shown in Exhibit A. SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
