SUBJECT: Set Public Hearing for September 13, 1983, for
Assessment of Costs for Street Lighting on:
1. 25th Street from Pearl to Ocean Park
2. Euclid between Brentwood Terrace and Georgina
3. 12th Street between Marguerita ahd Alta
4. Berkeley between Montana and Wilshire
Introduction
This report requests the City Council set a pubic hearing for the
assessment of costs for street lighting on the above named
streets.
Background
On October 12, 1982, the City Council awarded a contract for the
installation of street lighting on various streets as named
above. The work has been completed and property owner's share of
the cost is now due. A public hearing must be held pursuant to
Section 5882 of the California Streets and Highway Code. A
resolution setting the public hearing is attached. A Property
Map and Assessment Roll will be presented with the staff report
at the time of the public hearing.
Budget/Financial Impact
The assessments will finance one-half the cost of the lighting
contract. Any assessments unpaid after 30 days will go to bond
as required under the 1911 Improvement Act. A portion of the
assessments in the amount of $3,783 will reimburse the City for
one-half the cost of incidental expenses. Monies from the City's

General Fund were used to finance the remainder of the contract
cost.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the City Council adopt the attached
resolution setting a public hearing for September 13, 1983, on
the assessment of costs for street lighting on the above named
streets.
