City Staff
Public Hearing on the Installation of Street
Lighting on Berkeley Between Stanford and
Lipton.
Introduction
This report requests City Council hald a public hearing to hear
protests on the formation of a street lighting district on
Berkeley between Stanford and Lipton.
Background
On September 14, 1982, the City Council adopted Resolution No.
6555 (CCS) which set a public hearing to hear protests on the
installation of street lighting on Berkeley between Stanford and
Lipton. This issue originally appeared before Council on June 29,
1982. The City Council deferred action due to protests from
property owners. City staff met twice with the property owners.
The majority of people present at the meetings indicated they
would now be in favor of street lights if the "cut-off" luminaire
was used.
Notices were mailed to property owners on September 27, 1982, and
were posted on the street as required by State taw.
