Introduction
This report concerns award of bid for Dry Caustic Soda at
the unit prices bid for the period of July 1, 1982 through
June 30, 1983. Pending approval of the Fiscal 1982-83
budget, funds for this purchase will be available in account
number 25-500-671-000-501.
Background
In response to published Notice Inviting Bids (published 5-17,18,
1982) to furnish and deliver dry caustic soda in accordance
with City specifications, bids were received and publicly opened
and read May 27, 1982. Proposal forms were mailed to nine
vendors and notices were advertised in accordance with City
Charter and Municipal Code provisions. Two responsive proposals
were received.
Van Waters and Rogers
$321.80 per ton
McKesson Chemical Co.
$324.00 per ton
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award be made to Van Waters and
Rogers at the unit prices bid for the period of July 1,1982
through June 30, 1983 as the lowest and best bidder.
