Introduction
This report concerns award of bid for detector check valves in the
total amount of $9,291.96 including applicable sales tax. This
purchase will be expended from account number 25-955-200-000--000
(Water Department).]

Background
In response to published Notice Inviting Bids (published 4-27-82)
to furnish and deliver detector check valves in accordance with
City specifications, bids were received and publicly opened and read
May 27, 1982. Proposal forms were mailed to eight vendors and
notices were advertised in accordance with City Charter and Municipal
Code provisions. Two proposals were received as follows:
Hersey Products, Inc. $9,391.96
ITT Grinnell Corporation $9,460.50
Kecommendation
It is recommended that the award be made to Hersey Products, Inc.,
in the total amount of $9,391.96, including tax, as the lowest and
best bidder.
