SUBJECT: Recommendation To Award Bid For Three 3/4 Ton Pick-Up
Trucks Bid No. 1797
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid for three 3/4 ton pick-up trucks
in the total amont of $29,821.07 including applicable sales tax.
Funds for this purchase have been budgeted in account number 01-500-
461-000-801 (Mech. Maint) $10,889.63 and account number 38-500-671-
000-806 (Water $18,931.44.
Background
In response to published Notice Inviting Bids (published 9-1-82)
to furnish and deliver three 3/4 ton pick-up trucksin accordance
with City specifications, bids were received and publicly opened
and read on September 28, 1982. Proposal forms were mailed to
twenty-two vendors and notices were advertised in accordance with
City Charter and Municipal Code provisions. One proposal
was received from Claude Short Dodge.
It is felt that the one bid responding is very advantageous to the
City in that the specifications call for heavy duty chassis & cabs
with a fairly extensive service-type body on one vehicle and tool
boxes mounted on the body of the two vehicles. As is noted on
several of our other reports on vehicle bids, we have no rational
for the lack of response from auto dealers in this period of slow
times for them.
