6 Unit Condominium Conversion, 918 - 17th Street,
J. Korbakis
Introduction
This is a request for a Final,Tract Map for a 6 unit condominium
conversion approved by the Planning Commission on February 26,
1979. An appeal by Council Member Jennings on the Planning Com-
mission's extension of this tract is still pending as another
Agenda item. By mutual consent of Council Member Jennings and
the applicant's attorney, the extension appeal was continued to
the_April 25th agenda.
Background
On February 26, 1979 the Tentative Tract Map was approved with the
condition that the rear garages be enclosed and that "no parking"
be stencilled in the turn around area. On October 15, 1979 the
Final Tract Map was filed by the County Engineer but was not placed
before the City Council because of the Council policy requiring
prior rent control approval.
On February 4, 1980 the Planning Commission granted a 6 month ex-
tension on condition that the applicant seek approval of the Rent
Control Board prior to approval of the Final Tract Map. The exten-
sion was appealed by Council Member Jennings, was scheduled for
the February 26, 1980 Council meeting, adjourned to March 4, con-
timed to March 25th, continued to April 8th and then sjchedule~d~ 1 ~ 1

for April 25th by consent of Council Member Jennings and the
applicant's attorney. In the interim the applicant's attorney
has requested approval of the Final Map in light of the Council's
most recent policy not requiring prior rent control approval.
Recommendation
But for the appeal, the Tentative Tract Map would have expired
prior to the Council's change in policy of March 4, 1980, it is
respectfully recommended that approval of the Final Tract Map be
deferred until the applicant has complied with the conditions
imposed by the Planning Commission on the Tentative Tract Map
extension.

THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MOP:ICA DOES RESOLVE
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION. 1. That the Map of Tract No. 36421 in the City of
Santa Monica presented by John P. Korbakis, being a subdivision
for candominium purposes of Lot D, Block 35, Amended Map of the
Town of Santa Monica, as shown on Map recorded in Book 39,
Pages 45 to 51 inclusive of Miscellaneous Records, Records
of Los Angeles County, be and the same hereby is accepted and
approved.
SECTIOtd 2. That the City Clerk,hereby is authorized and
directed to endorse upon the face of said Map this order authenti-

SECTION 3. That the City Clerk shall certify to the
adoption of this resolution and thenceforth and thereafter the
same shall be in full force and effect.
