A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA MONICA SETTING VARIOUS PARKING PERMIT FEES
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Monica is the end of the 2010 Los Angeles
"Stadium to the Sea" Marathon which annually host approximately 25,000 runners, their
families and spectators;
WHERAS, the Marathon is a significant regional event that will promote Santa
Monica on regional and national broadcast;
WHEREAS, on January 26, 2010, the City Council of the City of Santa Monica
(Council) adopted Ordinance Number (City Council Series) authorizing the overnight
parking of vehicles at the beach Tots for regional events; and
WHEREAS, on January 26, 2010, the City Council of the City of Santa Monica
directed staff to prepare a resolution authorizing the overnight use of south beach lots 4
and 5 for the Marathon.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. In order to properly manage the City's parking resources on
Sunday, March 21, 2010, it is in the best interest of the City to provide for pre-sale of
overnight parking in south beach lots 4 and 5. The Marathon is a regional event which
benefits the City.
SECTION 2. Overnight parking permits for Marathon participants shall be in
south beach lots 4 and 5 at a rate of $15 plus a $2 service fee.
SECTION 3. Overnight permits shall only be valid for entry prior to 6:00 a.m, in

order to allow for parking by Marathon spectators or other beach parking users.
SECTION 4. If there are any conflicts between the rates adopted in this
resolution and anyadopted by prior resolution, the rates adopted through this resolution
shall take precedence between 12:01 a.m and 6:00 a.m. on March 21, 2010.
SECTION 5. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution and
thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
