Recommended Action
Staff recommends that the City Council adopt the attached ordinance.
Executive Summary
At-its meeting on November 24, 2009, the City Council introduced for first reading an
ordinance to amend the Santa Monica Municipal Code Chapter 8.108(b) regarding
landscaping, landscape irrigation and water conservation regulations. The ordinance is
now presented to the City Council for adoption.

More Performers
Since the inception of the formal permit process the Santa Monica
Pier has hosted over 15,000 individual performances a year.
Without permits and the regulatory role of non-sworn personnel the
manageable. performance space on the Pier would be diminished
by over 80%

venue over 300 days a year.
