Executive Summary At-its meeting on November 24, 2009, the City Council introduced for first reading an ordinance to amend the Santa Monica Municipal Code Chapter 8.108(b) regarding landscaping, landscape irrigation and water conservation regulations. The ordinance is now presented to the City Council for adoption. Access • The permit process affords non-sworn staff the ability to successfully manage broader and more inclusive access to a popular venue. a~~, ,~ Safety • The permit process affords the opportunity to educate performers and prevent potentially dangerous activity from taking place in busy public space. Emergency. Access Education of performers through the permit process aids greatly with emergency access. More Performers Since the inception of the formal permit process the Santa Monica Pier has hosted over 15,000 individual performances a year.
