Introduction
This report concerns rejection of bid to furnish and deliver one
(1) new and unused heavy-duty hazardous materials response vehicle
for lease/purchase for the Fire Department.
Background
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published January
12 and 13, 1995) to furnish and deliver one (1) new and unused
heavy-duty hazardous materials response vehicle far lease/purchase
in accordance with City specifications, bids were received and
publicly opened and read on February 6, 1995. Proposal farms were
mailed to five (5) vendors and notices were advertised in
accordance with City Charter and Municipal Code provisions. One
(1) proposal was received as follows.

In order to ensure fair and open competition, staff will re-
evaluate bid specifications and research the open market far other
possible bidders

Recommendation
It zs recommended that Bid #2520 submitted by Pierce Manufacturing
be rejected and staff be directed to research the open market for
possible competitive bids.
