by $6600, plus a contingency of $27,293 for a new total amount of $163,759.
Executive Summary
The Annenberg Community Beach House (ACBH) officially opened to the public on
April 25, 2009. The Community and Cultural Services Department has worked in
conjunction with an interior design consultant, Perkin+Will, to evaluate and identify
suitable furniture for the Beach House. The project team has identified furniture
produced by JANUS et Cie as the most suitable product for the Beach House pool area.
Funds for this purchase are available in the Capital Budget.
Discussion
In January 2009, an informal bid process was conducted to purchase casual. furniture
for the indoors of the Marion Davies Guest House at the ACBH. JANUS et Cie was the
lowest and best bidder, and a purchase order was issued. to JANUS et Cie in the
amount of $93,036. On March 24, 2009, Item 1-D, Council approved an additional
purchase which brought the total to $129,866. This additional purchase request for
outdoor furniture brings the total payment to $136,466. An additional $27,293 has been
requested for future furniture repair/replacements.
The selected furnishings for the pool area complement the historic character. of the pool
deck design. The JANUS et Cie product is scaled appropriately, while providing ample
seating for pool patrons and a design that is ideal for coastal conditions. The product is
1
easily cleaned and is versatile for both daytime public pool use and for private events
that will generate revenue for the ACBH.
Vendor Selection
In June 2009, an informal bid was conducted to furnish and deliver additional
recommended JANUS et Cie furniture for the pool area. Bid was posted on Planet Bids
and three bids were received per Attachment A. The lowest and best bidder is Janus
et Cie.
