R-10418City Council Meeting: July 28, 2009 Santa Monica; California RESOLUTION NUMBER 10418 (CCS) (City Council Series) A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SUBMIT AND EXECUTE USED OIL RECYCLING AND HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE GRANT APPLICATIONS TO THE CALIFORNIA INTEGRATED WASTE MANAGEMENT BOARD WHEREAS, the people of the State of California have enacted the California Oil Recycling Enhancement Act that provides funds to cities and counties for establishing and maintaining local used oil collection programs that encourage recycling or appropriate disposal of used oil; and WHEREAS, the California Integrated Waste Management Board has been delegated the responsibility for the administration of the program within the state including, setting up necessary procedures governing application by cities and counties under the program; and WHEREAS, the City of Santa Monica collects and properly disposes of hazardous waste, including oil, in order to ensure that it is not improperly dumped into sewer or storm drains or improperly added to the solid waste stream; and WHEREAS, the City of Santa Monica desires to enter into an agreement with the State of California for the implementation of a used oil collection program. 1 NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. The submittal of grant applications to the California Integrated Waste Management Board for all available grants under the California Oil Recycling Enhancement Act and all available Household Hazardous Waste grants under. the California Integrated Waste Management Act for the period of three years from July 1, 2009 through July 1, 2012, is hereby authorized. SECTION 2. The City Manager, or designee is hereby authorized, to execute in the name of the City of Santa Monica all necessary applications,. contracts, payment requests, agreements and amendments thereto for the. purposes of securing grant funds and to implement and carry out the purposes specified in the grant application. SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
