Subject: Ordinance Pertaining to Solar Energy Development and Design Standards
Recommended Action
Staff recommends that the City Council adoptthe attached ordinance.
Executive Summary
At its meeting on June 30, 2009, the City Council introduced for first reading an
ordinance amending SMMC Article IX (Zoning Ordinance), to establish an
administrative procedure for- approval of solar energy systems that meet objective
development standards and to allow solar energy systems to encroach into setback
areas and extend above current height limits. The ordinance is now presented to the
City Council for adoption.
