A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
ESTABLISHING FEE FOR TOBACCO RETAILER LICENSE
WHEREAS, Ordinance Number 2277(CCS) (the "Ordinance"), adopted
November 11, 2008, authorizes the imposition of a Tobacco Retailer License fee to
recover the City's costs in enforcing, administering, and educating the public regarding
the Ordinance, and provides that such fee shall be set by resolution of the City Council
and will be subject to annual adjustment; and
WHEREAS, the City Council, by this Resolution, desires to set the fee for the
Tobacco Retailer Cicehse in accordance with the Ordinance,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. A Tobacco Retailer License Fee ("TRL Fee") in the amount of
$145.35 is hereby established for the purpose of recovering costs associated with
resources and services provided by the City of Santa Monica in connection with
enforcing, administering, and educating regarding the City's Tobacco Retailer License
ordinance. Thereafter, the TRL Fee shall be subject to annual adjustment to reflect
changes in costs and number of businesses.
SECTION 2. The fee will be effective July 1, 2009.
SECTION 3. Beginning July 1, 2010 and on July 1 of each fiscal year
thereafter, the fee established by this Resolution shall be administratively revised to
account for adjustments in both the number of applicable businesses and the cost of
City enforcement, administration, and education.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution, and
thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
