A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
SETTING THE BUSINESS LICENSE PROCESSING FEE
WHEREAS, Ordinance Number 1754 (CCS) (the "Ordinance"), adopted July 12,
1994, governs the setting of the amount of user fees or fees forservices provided to or for
the benefit of particular individuals rather than the general public; and
WHEREAS, the Ordinance allows such user fees or fees for services to be set by
ordinance, by a resolution adopted by the City Council, or by any other means authorized
by law; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the City of Santa Monica to charge for the full costs of
services provided by City Staff when such services benefit individual users rather than
members of the community as a whole; and
NOW, THEREFORE; THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The Business License Processing fee is hereby set at $25.25 per
business license application for the purpose of recovering costs associated with resources
and services provided by the City of Santa Monica in connection with issuing business

licenses.
SECTION 2. Commencing upon July 1, 2010 and on July 1 of each fiscal year
thereafter, this fee shall be administratively revised annually by a factor equal to the
difference in the Los Angeles- Riverside-Orange County Consumer Price Index for Wage
Earners and Clerical Workers forthe twelve (12) month period February through February
of the prior year, except that any such administrative revision shall not be less than any
annual cost of living adjustment provided to the employees of the City of Santa Monica
through Memorandums of Understanding entered into between the City and the
employees' bargaining representatives forthe comparable fiscal year, and in no event shall
the annual administrative revision be less than zero percent (0%).
SECTION. 3. Resolution 10361 (CCS) adopted November 25, 2008 is amended to
revise the fee for Business License Processing.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution and
thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
