5u6JECT: License Fees for Bicycles
Several months ago a discussion was held -relative to a
change in the bicycle license fees but no definite decision was
reached.
Our current license regulations require a fee of 50 per
year for each navr bicycle registration and 25~/ for eaen transfer
of `ownership or renewal= Under the present ordinance approxi-
mately 3,000 licenses tivere issued for the year ending December,
1953, with a revenue slightly over One Thousand Dollars and an
expenditure for supplies in excess of x350=00.
® It is recommended that a new ordinance be adopted changing
the license fee to 50¢ and the'lzcense,peri_pd to tyro years,
beginning January 2,, 155= T would like to point ou-[;~tYiat the
surrounding cities have a longer Iieense period for bicycles
than the one year that vre have,
Based on the abave figures, a savings of over X350=00 in
supplies alone should be realized by changing the license period
and fee, thus in effect increasing the Gity's revenue accordingly=
As the bicycle license plates and forms tivill have to be ardered
within the next couple of weeks, it is requested that some
positive action be taken on this matter,
Respectfully yau-rs,
