SUBJECT: Recommendation for Encroachment Permit - ~:~ ~j,;

F9R FILING.
Transmitted herez~aith is the "Field Report and Recommenda-
tion for Proposed Building Encroachment" for decorative
brick pilasters, 2 feet high, in front of the building at
this location to encroach six inches (6") into City
property.
The back of sidewalk at this location is 18 inches from
the property line. There is an existing low wall, on the
same alignment (6" encroachment) along the frontage of
the lot adjacent on the northvaest, and it is probable that
the builder on this property assumed this was the property
line.
Numerous other properties i.ti this area have similar encroach-
ments.
Since the pilasters do not interfere vaith the public use of
the sidewalk, and since the permit, if issued, would be
revokable in the event the City needed to use the property,
it is recommended that the City Council be requested to
approve this enc-roacYLrnent and alioi•1 these pi fasters tc
remain,

CITY OF SANTA MONICA
FIELD REPORT AND RECOMMENDATION FOR PROPOSED BUILDING ENCROACHMENT
IACATION: 2322 - 5th Street
Lots 6 & 7 - Highland Tract
CONSISTING OF:
Brick pilasters encroaching a distance of 6" into the
Public right-of-way from grade level to a height of 2'
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that this request be granted.
Since these pilasters are decorative gnly and have no
structural utility, this request should probably be
denied in principle. However, there are several encroach-
ments in this same area of the same magnitude and since
no problems should arise because of this encroachment,
I believe, in the interest of good relations, this
request should be granted.
