SUBJECT: 11th Street, 14th Street, and 17th Street ?nlidening at the
Santa P~toniea Eree?vay - ~?raive Call for Bids
At the Council meeting of August 20, 164, the City Council
authorized the City i=ianager to enter into an agreement with the
State Division of Hi gh?~vays for the ~n*i deni.ng of the subject streets
:°or an amount not to exceed y~I0,000. This J1O,000 figure ,vas
obtained ."rom the Resident Engineer for t'_ne ~~-reeway.
By letter dated August 21, 1g64, this office notified the State
gnat such approval had been obtained and requested them to issue
a Change Order to the Contractor (Griffith Com,oany) to =perform the
subject ?work at an amount not to exceed S10,000.
This o~"r;ce ?-vas notified on September 15, lgc~', by the .State, than
t=ey now find it impossible to issue a Change Order to the Contractor
for the subject Trork and that ve must deal directly with the Contractor,
By letter dated September 18, 19'04 this office transmitted construc-
tion plans to the Griffith Company and requested them to furnish
this office ?~*ith a cost figure for performing the subject ?-vo-rk.
Attached is a letter received from the Griffith Company dated
Cctober 14, 1904 quoting a price of X12,539.84 for per"ormirg the
subject 4vork, plus~10.8o per ton of Asphaltic Concrete resur="acing
over 2 inches in thickness and plus ~G'G.05 _°or furnishing a surety
bond.
runds itl the amount of X15,500.00 are available in Job Order 770-13
to finance the subject work.
Therefore, it is recommended that approval be granted to issue a
Purchase Order contract to the Griffith Company in the approximate
amount of }12,633,8, but not to exceed `14,000.00. The additional
1,366.11 is requested to cover the possible cost of a small extra
amount of Asphaltic Concrete resurfacing and any contingencies that
might arise,.
