Street Lighting on 26th Street, Colorado Avenue to
Cloverfield Boulevard
There is no provision in the Public irdorks Master
Plan for the installation of modern street lighting on 26th
Street between Colorado Avenue and Cloverfield Boulevard
near the Santa Monica Freeway.
With the ca~spletion of the freeway and the on-and-
off ramps at Cloverfield Boulevard, traffic on both loth
Street and Cloverfield Boulevard has considerably increased.
Complaints on the inadequacy of existing street lighting on
these streets are beginning to be received.
With tine completion of the widening of 26th Street
from San Vicente to Colorado, this stretch of loth Street
will be adequately lighted. Estimates of the cost of in-
stalling mercury vapor lighting between Colorado Avenue and
Cloverfield Boulevard show an estimated cost of yy'o.67 per
front foot, or a total cost of20,000. All of the above
cost would be assessed against the property owner.
It is recom?r;ended that the City Council be re-
quested to authorize a survey of the property oti~rne-rs
involved to determine whether 1911 Act proceedings for this
improvement should be initiated.
