You will recall that the City Council, at its meeting of
January 9, 1968 (Item 6D ), requested the Administration to
"make a report regarding the feasibility of including the
side streets to the adjoining alleys in future street
lighting programs".
In accordance with this instruction, and in order to provide
a fair assessment for both the project under design and
projects that may °ttie in" to either end in the future, we
are designing all future residential street lighting projects
as follows:
a) On the intervening side streets on projects involving
two or more blocks, a light is to be installed approxi-
mately one-third of the distance to the next street,
in both directions from the project street.
b) On the terminal streets on all projects, one light
only will be installed on each street. At one end
it will be to the east of the project street; at
the other end to the-west.
Attached is a reap showing a typical project designed as
outlined above,
By designing in this manner, each block of the project street
is assessed for one light at each end of said block, and as
subsequent blocks (either on parallel streets or extensions
of the project street) are lighted, they too will be similarly
assessed and the side street lighting will be complete.
