1865-1g6o Traffic Signal Budget Allocations ,,~, },~~,d~`~
Included in the 1865-0'6 "Traffic Signs and Striping°
budget is an allocation of $48,500 for the installation,
modernization, and/or relocation of traffic signals at
various locations. $27,500 of this amount is to come
from County Road {Gas Tax) funds: the remaining $21,000
is financed from the General Fund. The locations where
this signal work is proposed to be done are listed on
page 75 of the lgo5-66 Budget.
Subsequent to the adoption of the budget, this signal
program has been reviewed by the Parking and Traffic
Engineer and myself to determine whether construction
work currently in progress, as well as one-way street
patterns currently .under study, might warrant a change
in said program. This review has disclosed that:
1. ~rTork on the signals effected by the Third Street
Mall has, for the most part, been completed with
funds available in the 1864-65 budget.
2. Signals proposed for Broadway and for Colorado
Avenue should be deferred until studies of the
proposed one-way street patterns in the central
business district have been completed.
3. The modernization of the signals at Main Street
and Hill Street should be deferred until traffic
patterns resulting from the completion of the
Redevelopment project have become evident.
Accordingly, it is recommended that the City Council be
requested to approve the reallocation of the budgeted
funds referred to above to finance traffic signal
modernization, relocation, and/or installation at the
following intersections:
