The City Council, at its meeting of April 1~4,
1970, adopted Resolution No. ~+0~+7 (C.C.S,) urging the
Division of Highways to approve a traffic signal at
Santa Monica Boulevard and 22nd Street.
Attached is a copy of a letter dated May 6,
1970 from the Division of Highways indicating their
approval of said signal installation and stating that
financial details tieould be worked out in the future,
It is estimated that this signal installation
will cost $15,000, with Santa Monica's share probably
being 5,000.
I propose to include-this signal in our 1970-
1971 signal program, and would recommend that the
appropriation of the funds required be deferred until
the construction contract is awarded.

Dear Nir. Kennedy:
As we discussed by telephone Pr1ay 5, our study of traffic
conditions at the intersection of 22nd Street and Santa
Monica Boulevard has been completed. I^1e are now in a
position to recomrnend the installation of trafs'ic signals
at the intersection.
As the City appears anxious to expedite this ~~rork, it is
suggested that the City consider doing the design i~rork and
administering the contract for the signal installation.
Technical and financial details :,ill be discussed in the
future,
Very tfru/ly~yj ~~F~}y//-jjo~`u~//r'j s ,
