As you knotir, the City Council, at its meeting of December 17, 1970, instructed the administration to prepare plans and obtain the cost for constructing traffic signals and safety lighting at 20th Street and Ocean Park Boulevard and for canstructing safety lighting at 21st Street and Ocean Park Boulevard. Following are the estimated costs for performing the subject work: 20th Street @ Ocean Park Boulevard Traffic Signals and Lighting ......... y~13,900 Traffic Signal Controller ............ 3,000 Enlarge Curb Returns ................. 900 Relocate one Fire Hydrant ............ 300 Remove two Trees ..................... 600 Contingencies ...............s......e. 1,300 Total Estimated Cost (20th & Ocean Park Blvd.)....~20,000 21st Street @ Ocean Park Boulevard Safety Lighting ...................... $ 4,000 Enlarge Curb Returns ................. 1,370 Contingencies s....e.se....a..m.a.seem 630 Total Estimated Cost .............................y~ 6,000 In order to eliminate the hazard that would result from a dark stretch of street between these two lighted intersections, the above estimate (for 20th Street) includes the cost of installing two lights on Ocean Park Boulevard between 20th and 21st Streets. Authorize the expenditure of $6,000 of State Gasoline Tax Funds to finance the construction of safety lighting at 21st Street and Ocean Park Boulevard. 3. Authorize the issuance of a Change Order to the con- tractor who is presently installing traffic signals throughout the City for the construction of the above two items of work. BARTLETT L.
