As you knovr, the subject improvement is included as Project
No. 114 in .our 1964-05 State Gasoline Tax Project Prcgrarn.
This project is being designed and constructed by the City
of Los Angeles with the cost being shared between our t~,ao
Cities.
The 196~~-05 Gas Tax Project was submitted and aparoved based
on cost estimates furnished this office by Los Angeles just
prior to our submittal of the project to the State.
On July 14, 19'04, Los Angeles submitted to this office a
proposed agreement fcr the sharing of costs between the two
Cities. The costs shown in this agreement are greater than
the costs used in our project apolication.
Following is a summary of Santa blonica's revised share of
the costs, together with the funds available:
R "vd Const .

estimate of 7/1464) ............. 22,500 $38,000

Adequate Right of day funds are available. Additional con-
struction funds in the amount of X4,900 (call y~5,000) are

Subject: 23rd Street and Dewey Street
Realignment,
In addition to the above additional Gas Tax Funds required,
there are .certain necessary construction items that are not
eligible Gas Tax expenditures (sidewalks and one street
light . The total cost of these items is estimated at
$4,000. Our share of these costs is one-half - or 2,000.
Prior to the City Council approving the proposed agreement
with Los Angeles, it will be necessary to secure these
additional funds.
It therefore is recommended that the City Council be re-
quested to:
1. Authori2e the City Engineer to request approval
from the State to spend X5,000 from Contingency
Fund Project No. 123 for the purpose of providing
additional construction funds for the subject
project.
2. Appropriate y~2,000 to cover the estimated City's
share of ineligible construction items.
Upon approval of the additional Gas Tax funds from the State,
this office will submit the proposed agreement for the sharing
of cost to you for submittal to the Council for approval.
