Cloverfield Boulevard iidening - Michigan Avenue to
Colorado Avenue
State Gas Tax Project No. 135 includes the widening of
Cloverfield Boulevard between Michigan Avenue and Santa
Monica Boulevard,
The Gity Council, at its meeting of Tray 2~F, 1900, (Item
8-D ), instructed the administration to limit this project,
at this time, to the widening of Cloverfield Boulevard
between Michigan Avenue and Colorado Avenue.
In order to effectively utilize this widened section, it
will be necessary to extend the subject project approxi-
mately 300 feet northerly of Colorado Avenue on the east
side of Cloverfield Boulevard only, in order to provide
for a transition section for northbound traffic as shown
on the attached sketch.
From_center line to new curb line southerly of Colorado
Avenue will be 30 feet. From center line to existing curb
line northerly of Co1~ ado Avenue is 20 feet, allowing
for two 10-foot lanes.
If a transition section is not provided, the restricted
width north of Colorado Avenue will necessitate restricting
the northbound roadway south of Colorado to two lanes (one
of which would be blocked by a left turning vehicle) plus
a curb lane restricted to either parking or "right turn
only". Since a large left turn movement at this intersection
is anticipated, through traffic would be restricted to one
lane.
If a transition section is included, we can provide a left
turn pocltet for northbound traffic, plus two through north-
bound lanes.
