SUBJECT: V~iidening and Realignment of the Intersection of 23rd Street,
Dewey Street and V~algrove Avenue
Attached are a memorandum and mah in connection with the
subject project, which will be jointly undertaken by the City
of Santa A~Ionica and the City of Los Angeles with the use of
Gas Tax Funds.
It is our recommendation that the valuation proposed by Los
Angeles be accepted and included in the agreement between
the two cities for sharing costs.

Widening and Realignment of Dewey Street.
As you know, plans currently are being prepared
by Los Angeles for the subject project. Early in February,
the City of Los Angeles transmitted to us for comment the
draft of an agreement between. our two cities for the
sharing of costs on the project. This agreement did not
take into consideration the value of airport property that
would be taken for right-of-way for the realigned street.

It was the opinion of this office that the value
of the above property should be included as a portion of
Santa Monica's contribution to the project, and the agree-
ment therefore was returned to Los Angeles for the insertion
Los Angeles has appraised this property and has
set a value of $10,500. The property involved has an area
of 6,465 square feet, or an appraised value of $1.55 per
square foot. The only use to which this property can be
put, other than the proposed use, is its present use as
landscaped slope at the end of the airport runway.
It is requested that the above appraised value
be approved for inclusion in the agreement between Los
Angeles and Santa Monica for the sharing of costs on the
subject project.
