Gity Clerk City Attorney Director of Finance-City Controller Director of Public Works August 15, 1966 Petition to the Honorable City Council, City Ha].l, Santa tAonica, California Honorable Council Members:- We, the undersized owners of properties abutting 16th Sreet, between Alta and Montana Avenues, do hereby petition the Honorable City Council to consider the installation of "T.0 PAR.KINC" Signs for street cleaning nurposes~ to be restrictdd fora period of two hours per week on alternate days £or alterna.te sides of the street. The signs requested are to/~~i the same form as those on streets south of TAontana Avenue, ie Idaho, Y7ashinPton and California with the protection of the Santa Monica Police Department. The "ice PARKING" sites are necessary due to the. many cars parked on this street, making it impossible for the street sweeper to properly sweep this block on 16th Street. After the sweepers had been by our homes on a rriday, pictures of the condition of the street were taken on the £ollowinp, Sunday. Vfe are enclosing the pictures so that you may observe the condition of the street. As you see, the sweepers could reach very little of the debris due to parked cars during week days. The leaves from the trees keep falling, most o£ the time, and with water running very slowly in the gutter, the odor becomes most rank, and at times not bearable. It is the sincere desire of the property owners in this block that this condition will merit your attention.
