SR-101166-8CSUBJECT: Request for Appropriation to Purchase Additional
Bin-Type Refuse Containers
Ordinance No. 690 (C.C.S.), adopted August 10, 195, pro-
vides for the City to furnish, upon request, and insofar
as they may be available, bin-type containers for the
accumulation of refuse.
Utilizing funds authorized at the time of adopting said
ordinance, 15 - 1 cubic yard bins and 82 - 2 cubic yard
bins have been purchased. 87 of these bins have been
distributed to apartment houses, other multiple dwellings,
and businesses, and are producing revenue of 2,211.50 per
month. 8 bins are being utilized by various City depart-
ments such as the Transportation and Library Departments;
2 are kept as emergency spares.
15 unfilled applications currently are on file, and re-
quests for information, and applications for service,
continue to come in at the approximate rate of 2 per week.
If we are to continue the service provided by this program,
it will be necessary to purchase more 2 cubic yard bins.
(There appears to be very little demand for 1 cubic yard
containers). At the current price of approximately ,120
for a 2 cubic yard bin, the_~7.50 per month rental charge
pays for the container in In months.
It is recommended that the City Council be requested to
authorize the acquisition of 100 additional 2 cubic yard
bins, and to appropriate the 12,000 required to cover the
cost of acquisition.
