FG` ~ ~ ILING,
The subject pedestrian overcrassing structure is, with
increasing frequency,. being decorated with spray-painted
words and phrases which at best are derogatory and which
usually are obscene.
The removal or obliteration of these wards is a continuing
expense, and in the interval between the painting and the
removal they do nothing to add to the City's image.
The problem could be permanently eliminated by the installa-
tion of a chain link fence, curving inward at the top so
as to prevent climbing over or throwing material onto ears
below, installed on both bridge sidewalk . Similar fences
have been installed by the State on many freeway over-
CPOSSingS.
We have obtained an informal quotation in the amount of
$1,050 for furnishing and installing such a fence.
It is recommended that the City Council be re uested to
approve this installation and to appropriate 1,050 to
finance the work.
