There is a storm drain catch basin in the south-
west curb of Ocean Avenue at Santa Monica Boulevard located
within the area of the marked pedestrian crosswalk on the
northwest side of the intersection (See attached photograph
and sketch).
Due to the extreme height of the curb at the catch
basin, and the slope of the gutter (local depression) in
front of said basin, a severe safety and tripping hazard
exists. It has been the cause of two accidents within the
past year--the most recent being the subject of the attached
Police Report No. DR-68-132j2.
The estimated cost of relocating this catch basin
to a point northwesterly of the crosswalk, by contract,
is $3,000.
It is recommended that the City Council be re-
quested to appropriate this amount and to authorize this
construction.
