Peter, Director of Human Resources Subject: Resolution Authorizing the City Manager to Execute a Revised Executive Pay Plan Recommended Action This report requests that City Council adopt the attached Resolution authorizing the City Manager to amend and execute the Executive Pay Plan (EPP) by deleting the position of "Risk Manager" from coverage by the EPP. Executive Summary A single amendment is being proposed to the Executive Pay Plan: to delete the position of "Risk Manager" from coverage by the Executive Pay Plan (EPP). As a division head, the position will be represented by the Management Team Associates (MTA): Discussion The EPP establishes the terms and conditions of employment for Department Heads and other at-will employees who receive the EPP benefits as a part of their separate employment contracts. A reorganization resulted in the Risk Management Division being moved to the Finance Department, The position, which reports to the Director of Finance; is considered to be a division manager and no longer qualifies for coverage under the EPP. The incumbent Risk Manager was covered by the EPP until his departure in November 2008. The position, which is currently vacant, is more appropriately represented by the Management Team Associates; therefore, a single amendment is being proposed to the Executive Pay Plan: to delete the "Risk Manager" from coverage by the EPP. 1 Financial Impacts &Budget Actions There is no .additional cost for the proposed change to the Executive Pay Plan since there will be a decrease in cashable benefits.
