The construction plans for tine Freeway call for a detour
.road to be constructed between 5th Str eet at Colorado
Avenue and 4th Street ,just north of th e School Administra-
tion Building. This detour is necessa ry to detour traffic
during the construction of the Fourth. Street Bridge.
The portion of this detour road between Colorado Avenue and
Olympic Boulevard (westbound) tiaill be converted to a City
street, upon completion of the Freeway. The City Council
on November o, 1962 passed Resolution No. 2706 to this effect.
Included in the 1864-65 Street Department Budget Request are
the following items required to convert this detour to a
City street:
{a} Reconstructing this detour between Olympic
Boulevard and a point 120 feet northerly
thereof ...................................12,000
{b} Additional cost to replace A.C. curb with
P.C.C. curb between 120 feet northerly of
Olympic Boulevard and Colorado Avenue ..... ~ 39300
It appears that the construction of this detour road will be
started prior to the adoption of the 1864-65 budget. In order
to save approximately (11300 it is requested that authorization
be given to negotiate a Change Order with the Freeway Contractor
to construct P.G.C. curbs at this time between the limits
mentioned in (b) above. This will eliminate the removal of
A.C. curbs at a later date. It is estimated that the cost of
P.C.C. curbs, if installed at this brae, is 2000.
