Background
On July 23, 2008, City Council authorized the negotiation of a Professional Services

the design of the operations .building improvements. Akick-off meeting was held
September 18, 2008, at which time staff and the designers determined that the project
would benefit substantially by obtaining LEED certification, and incorporating the north
and south side exteriors. Due to a determination that there were no existirig CAD
drawings of the building, it is also necessary to produce CAD drawings at this time.

Discussion
Capacity exists to accommodate administration and operations personnel in the present
structure for approximately the next ten years. Inclusion of the north and south side
exterior areas in the project will contribute substantially to the ability to obtain LEED
certification, as well as provide a cohesive design flow for the project. The CAD
drawings wilt allow for optimal utilization of the space.
Financial Impacts & Budget Actions
Funds for increased design services in the amount of $71,395 are available in account
0410826.589000.
