SUBJECT: Revision of Map, Drawirra~ and Specification Fees
INTRODUCTION
This report transmits for adoption an ordinance amending
Section 7501, 7502, and 7504 of Chapter 5, Article VII of the
Santa A4onica Municipal Code to allow fees for maps, drawings and
specifications to be set by Resolution.
BACY.GROUND
This ordinance was introduced by Council as Item 8C at its
September 23, 1980 meeting. At that time the Resolution, Number 6091,
setting forth fees to be charged for maps, drawings and specifications
was adopted. This Resolution will go into effect when the ordinance
becomes effective.
RECOMMENDATION
It is respectfully recommended that the City Council adopt
this ordinance allowing fees for maps, drawings and specifications
to be set by Resolution and allowing postage and handling to be
charged when appropriate.

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA REPEALING
AND REPLACING SECTIONS 7501 AND 7502
AND AMENDING SECTION 7504 OF CHAPTER 5,
ARTICLE VIII OF TIIE SANTA MONICA
MUNICIPAL CODE.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES
HEREBY ORDAIN:
SECTION 1. Existing Sections 7501 and 7502 of the
Santa Monica Municipal Code are hereby repealed and shall be
replaced with revised section 7501 and 7502 to read as follows:
SECTION 7501. MAPS AND DRAG7INGS. Fees
shall be paid to the City Treasurer for
maps and drawings furnished by the City
Engineer. The fees shall be established and
periodically adjusted by Resolution of the
City Council.
SECTION 7502. STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS.
Fees shall be charged and paid to the
City Treasurer for bound copies of Standard
Specifications. The fees shall be established
and periodically adjusted by Resolution of
the City Council
SECTION 2. Section 7504 of the Santa I~lonica Pdnnicipal
Code is hereby amended and as amended shall read as follows:
SECTION 7504. ENGINEERING DOCUMENTS.
A deposit may be collected
from prospective bidders, for plans and
specifications for public works improvement
projects, to insure the return of said plans
and specifications after bids have been sub-
mitted. Such deposit shall be paid to the
City Treasurer of the City. Such deposit
shall be refunded to the prospective bidder
upon return of the plans and specifications
and presentation of a receipt validated by
the officer distributing such plans and
specifications. Mailing and handling fees
may be charged to the prospective bidder in
appropriate amounts as determined by the
City Engineer.
SECTION 3. Any provision of the Santa Monica P4unicipal
Code or appendices thereto inconsistent therewith, to the extent
of such inconsistencies and no further, ar,e hereby repealed or
modified to that extent necessary to affect the provisions of
this ordinance.
SECTION 4. If any section, subsection, sentence, clause,
or phrase of this ordinance is for any reason held to be invalid
or unconstitutional by a decision of any court of any competent
jurisdiction, such decision shall not affect the validity of the

remaining portions of the ordinance. The City Council hereby
declares that it would have passed this ordinance and each and
every section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase not de-
clared invalid or unconstitutional without regard to whether
any portion of the ordinance would be subsequently declared
invalid or unconstitutional.
SECTION 5, The Mayor shall sign and the City Clerk
shall attest to the passage of this ordinance. The City Clerk
shall cause the same to be published once in the official news-
paper within fifteen (15} days after its adoption. The ordinance
shall become effective after thirty (30) days from its adoption.
