SUBJECT: Remodeling Parking Lot between the County Building and the
Auditorium -
This office has completed the construction drawings
for remodeling the Main Street entrance side of the Civic
Center parking lot between the County Building and the Civic
Auditorium. This project is in conformance with the Master
Plan of Civic Center Development and will not only eliminate
the present unsightly appearance at this location but will
also improve traffic flow into and out of both the County
Building and Auditorium parking lots.
Attached is a sketch showing the limits of the
work.
Sometime ago, during the construction of the County
Building addition, the City entered into an agreement with the
County - Contract No. 1557 (C.C.S.) - to improve the parking
lot around the County Building. Said Contract No. 1567 pro-
vided for an estimated expenditure of $76,876, with the City's
share being 33-1/3~ and the County's share being 66-2/3f,
(not to exceed 66-2/3/ of $76,876). A majority of these funds
were expended in the improvement of the parking area at the
rear of the County Building.
At the present time there is approximately $8,800
available in Job Order No. 770-18 to finance the subject
construction. This $8,800 is the amount remaining per the
City-County agreement.
The estimated cost of the subject construction is
$21,800.
It is recommended that the City Council be requested
to approve the subject project and to authorize a call for
bids for its construction, with the understanding that an
appropriation of approximately $13,000 will be required after
bids are opened to complete the financing of the project.
