This report covers the recommendation that three public mem-
bers be appointed to the Technical Advisory Committee for the
local coastal plan.
Background
As part of the program to develop a local caastal plan in ac-
cordance with the Coastal Act of 1976, the City Council appointed
a Technical Advisory Committee consisting of two Council Members,
two Planning Commissioners, two Recreation Commissioners and four
staff members. In the course of the Public Hearing on the LCP
work program, it was suggested that the public participation would
be enhanced by the addition of public members to this Committee
or the formation of a separate committee consisting of interested
citizens. The staff believes the augmenting of the present Com-
mittee with the established committee by the addition of public
members .would be preferable and result in better communication
and coordination.
Recommendation..
It is respectfully recommended that the City Council undertake
the appointment of three additional members to -the Technical Ad-
visory Committee and that an advertisement requesting applications
from interested citizens be authorized. '
